What is interpreting?
Interpreting is oral communication; rendering a message from one language into another. The interpreter translates the speaker's speech immediately into the target language; thus the interpreter works in close contact with both the speaker and the person who is the addressee of the message. As a result the interpreter does not have long to find the corresponding term in the target language; the interpreter must be able to react immediately and rely upon his/her skills and the knowledge he/she has obtained through his/her education and preparation.

There are three basic kinds of interpretation:

# Consecutive interpretation:
Being near the speaker, the interpreter listens to his/her speech and interprets it into the other language after the speaker has finished speaking, using previously prepared materials (speeches, event agenda, main issues of the conference, etc.) or notes prepared during the speaker’s presentation, if necessary. Taking into account the time constraints, this interpretation technique is generally used for meetings, negotiations, business lunches, visits to notaries and banks, etc. In comparison with simultaneous interpretation, this type of interpreting is simpler and cheaper for the client.

# Simultaneous interpretation:
Simultaneous interpretation requires the interpreter to be extremely well qualified, as the interpretation occurs simultaneously to the speaker’s presentation. As a rule, simultaneous interpretation is necessary at conferences, meetings, presentations, political sessions, etc. To be able to perform it at the highest level, two interpreters should work in one language pair in the same direction and alternate every 20-30 minutes. It is important for the interpreters to familiarize themselves with the topic of the event in advance, obtaining auxiliary materials, previously prepared speeches, PowerPoint presentations, etc. The presenter speaks in the room into a microphone; the interpreter follows the speech with the help of headphones and simultaneously interprets it, speaking into another microphone. Listeners in the room choose the appropriate channel to hear the interpretation in their desired language.

# Chuchotage:
The interpreter works by interpreting for the listener in a small voice. This method is used in cases when the language of the event is only not understood by one person.
